New NRAS Incentives offered in Victoria:

Federal Housing Minister, Tanya Plibersek announces a further 1,567 NRAS incentives offered in Victoria, Round 3, July 23rd 2010

This is the next set of incentives to be approved under the third round of the National Rental Affordability Scheme.
Incentives have been offered to several providers to build homes right across Victoria. They include new homes in the Melbourne CBD, suburban Melbourne as well as growing regional centres like Bendigo, Ballarat and Geelong.

The largest number of these new incentives will be offered to Ethan Affordable Housing, a not for profit company that was established to bring together builders, financiers and tenancy managers to invest in affordable housing for key workers.

Ethan received 148 incentives in the first rounds of the National Rental Affordability Scheme to become familiar with the program and assess whether they could deliver it at scale.

Ethan Affordable Housing has reached an agreement with Payton Securities to establish a wholesale fund for institutional investors who want to be part of the National Rental Affordability Scheme. This fund will make it possible for superannuation funds and other institutions to invest in the Scheme. Mr Payton has said that the new fund is having fruitful discussions with investors from the socially responsible investment sector.

New NRAS Incentives offered in the Northern Territory:

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has announced a re-elected Federal Labor Government would help to build 1,200 new affordable rental houses in the Northern Territory.

She has announced plans to help build new houses for Darwin and Palmerston, priced at least 20 per cent below market rates.

Ms Gillard says the new houses would be built by Ethan Affordable Housing, a not-for-profit organisation.

"I announce that a re-elected Gillard government will deliver through our national rental affordability scheme 1,200 new residences in Darwin," she said. "These new homes will be built here in Darwin and made available to Australians of low and middle income Australians."
